Our First Choir Rehearsal
We had our first choir rehearsal today and it was very good. We did not have a certain agenda but we just got together and introduced ourselves. About seven people total showed up: four women, three men including myself. I brought my guitar along so I could have an instrument to place their voices where they needed to be. Much to my surprise, I found all of the vocalists could cover each one’s section equally well.
I began teaching original material which they had never heard, and I found their retention to be remarkable. I also found their hearing ability to be exceptional. No matter how difficult the vocal assignments given to them, after careful analyzation they were able to perform them. Man you all, I am so excited for what the future holds and the potential with this group.
My objective is to create a fusion of African Zimbabwean music, with African American gospel music. I do not know if it is or has ever been done before, but I am going to try my best to come up with something that is different on both sides of the continent.
I’ve selected a choir director from within this group, a young man who was also skilled, not only in singing but also in musical notation. He has suggested that we advertise in the newspaper and on the radio about upcoming rehearsals for singers who might want to join this African American gospel group. I am going to follow his lead since he is a native of the land and knows the terrain better. We will keep you posted as we progress.
Speaking at a Local School
Also here, as you can see in the pictures, I spoke in front of a University, the students and the faculty. I spoke and taught on ‘Success and Prosperity Comes from Keeping God’s Word’. The students loved it and so did the faculty. I also spoke on the radio station again, interviewed by the same DJ that interviewed me last time (for those who watched the DVD footage of our last trip). By the way, if you haven’t got a copy of the DVD, do us a pleasure and get a copy. You will help the people here and see excellent footage of how the land is here and how the people are.
God’s Word is out, and it has got to flow; I am watching it do so and I’m happy to be a conduit for the God of Israel. Continue to keep us in your prayers and we, you. God bless you in Jesus name. Amen and Amen.
Grace and Peace to All in Jesus Name Amen!!!
